Welcome to the home of the Ellington Colliery Brass Band, one of the busiest and most successful Brass Bands in the North East of England.
We are a community music organisation based in Morpeth, Northumberland, with a proud history dating back to 1925. We also run a Brass Roots Training Band for new players of all ages and backgrounds.
Please explore our website and if you have questions about hiring or joining the band, learning to play or about our history head over to our Contact Us page.

“Morpeth is lucky to have a brass band which is amazing in so many ways. Not just fantastic music from very talented musicians, happy to play on all special occasions in the town, but their encouragement of the young musicians in the [Brass Roots Training Band] and their lovely family friendly ethos”
Alison Byard, Morpeth Town Council (March 2021)
Supporting the Band
Come and listen!
The best way you can support us is to come along and listen to us! We perform on dozens of occasions throughout the year so keep an eye on our engagements page or on Facebook page and come along and enjoy!
Give some of your time!
We don’t only look for musicians! Many hands make light work and extra hands are always needed. If you have skills you think we could utilise as a charity or you could spare some time to help us prepare for events, look after our equipment, support the work of our committee, then please get in touch and you’ll be welcomed into the band family with open arms.
Make a donation!
All donations are gratefully received. Running the band is a considerable financial undertaking. We are not sponsored or in receipt of statutory funding; we rely on income from engagements, grants and donations to cover rent, insurance, instrument repair and replacement, buying new music and performing arts fees. To make a donation, please email contactecband@gmail.com.
